Day 20 Saturday

Sunday, March 25, 2012

Yesterday(Saturday)We had a great visit in the morning from Al and Bonnie. Lots of fun and laughs, and good conversation as usual. Then Katie and I went to do a little shopping and some errands. I wanted to get a hose reel, so that our hose is not just laying on the carport. Seeing as Karily and Libby were so engrossed with Katie and my smart phones, we wanted to see if we could get them a kids cell phone to play with. We didn't find that, but we did find a great English/Spanish educating device that sort of looks like a tablet or a game device...it does numbers and letters, games, music, typing and phonics. It works very well and will be fun and educational for them to play with. Karily especially is so interested in learning English and we are sure Libby will not be far behind. As it runs on AA batteries we will be sure to give them extras or rechargeables.

We went to the drug store to work on photos to give to some of the kids. We do not have pictures for all sponsors, but we have pictures to give to Karily of Durga, Libby...us, and Maria Guadalupe of Surjana. Next year we will try and make sure we have pictures of each sponsor as the kids like to have them.

We were invited to Linda and Brian Connelly's for a barbecue at 5PM. When we arrived several of the couples who we already know were present. It started off with the men and women intermixed on the deck, but as space became more at a premium with more people arriving, it quickly switched to the Texas type of seating arrangement with the men sitting together and the women.

We found out we missed a tremendous meal and cabaret show at the Rec Hall in our park last night. Everyone was raving about it and although we had a good time at the dance, it seems we really missed something good. We had heard about one of the men in the park who sang at the performance, but we didn't know who it was. Now I learned it was Gerry, and here I was sitting right beside him.

Linda and Brian outdid themselves with the food and it was all great. Once I saw Ron with a piece of cheesecake that looked so delicious, I just had to have some as well.

Everyone had a great time as usual. It's because of this particular group of people. Lots of good conversation, tons of laughs, and just a general good time. Thanks to Linda and Brian, we will reciprocate next year when Katie doesn't have a broken bone in her foot.

First ones to leave are Bill and June who are leaving on Monday. We will miss them.

We left around 9PM and went to see Al who was packing up and getting ready to go home. He intended to leave around 3:30AM. We had a nice chat, and then hugs and wishes for a safe journey home all around.

And so ended another great day in the Valley...

more later...
