One thing that happens here is that it is fairly easy to lose track of days here. As I'm writing this, I realize that after we went to Mexico on Thursday, I missed writing the blog for a full day, that being Friday.
I'm going...hmmmm...what the heck did we do on Friday. Ahh...it's sort of coming back a bit. We had lots of company in the morning to see how Katie was doing. June and Marie came over, Al came over with little dog Katie and Bonnie. Marg Jenner stopped by to see Katie and told us that almost the same thing had happened to her in Winnipeg before she came down. She ended up with a boot on her foot, but hers had to be in a different spot because it healed with no mention of surgery. We had a nice visit with all, and that was very nice of them, my Katie is thankful for all the good friends concerned about her.
Katie says a big thank you to Rick and Shirley Engstrom, Rick is also a retired Winnipeg Police Service member like me. Rick and Shirley thank you....you know what you did!
Katie and I went to HEB to get a few supplies(booze) that we could take to a dance we were going to Friday night, at Tropic Star, the next park to us. There is a band called "The Agency" in the valley that plays many parks with their 50's 60's music. At first we weren't going to go because of Katie's foot, but our friend Al was going, and Bob and Judy, and Bonnie, so we decided even if we just had to sit and listen we would go. I always get a kick out of the fact that you can take whatever you want in terms of drinks to these venues. They are only three hours from 7 to 10, so no one gets hammered, there is lots of dancing going on, which prevents excessive consumption. It all works, and goes on all over the Valley in various parks.
So we went, and found that the rave reviews people give about the Agency are all true. They are an excellent band, and have some really good singers. We liked the Cruisers last year, but I think the Agency is even better. Katie and I decided that if we just got up for the slow dances and basically danced in spot, without our usual fancy dance moves(not) we would be fine...so we did...and it was fine. We discovered that I could move forward a bit but could not move backward, as it made it to hard for Katie.
Didn't take long for Al to get up on the dance floor, and first thing you know he and Bonnie were jiving up a storm.
Katie and I probably had about 5 or 6 slow dances in the 3 hours and it was fun. We also had pleasant conversation and laughs with others at the table and met a few new people. People Katie didn't even know came to talk to her about her foot. She is such a celebrity now! but for the wrong reasons.
Shortly after ten, we all left and it was then time to go home and chill out...which is exactly what we did.
and so ended another great day in the Valley.
